Acerola is a shrub which reaches 5m in height in the dry forest with deciduous leaves. It produces an abundance of bright red fruits from 1 to 2 cm in diameter, which contain several small seeds, similar to the European cherry.
This Brazilian fruit has a very high content of vitamin C, which is much higher than that of orange. For this reason, it is also used for the extraction of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) for the production of cosmetics and medicines.⠀
Benefits: Antioxidant, rich source of vitamin C.
Products: Green and Red Acerola. Fresh fruits, dry extract, freezz-dried, capsules, FD pieces.
Green acerola is particularly known for its vitamin C content. Once mature, acerola has 20 to 30 times more vitamin C than the orange. Green acerola, its immature version, contains twice more vitamin C.
